1. War Eagles 1-0
With a decisive week 1 win; the War Eagles appear to be a big fish in the deep pool of Thursday night teams. With a dominant presence down low, shooters on the wings, a point guard putting up triple doubles and a natural scorer in Matt Slack, the War Eagles are surely championship contenders.
2. One Body B 1-0
Hopefully One Body B isn’t Antioch’s second-string team because as of now they appear to be one of the best in the league because of their rebounding and three point shooting abilities. Deciding between One Body B and War Eagles for the number one spot was near impossible, but since Antioch’s talent seems to be divided onto two squads, the edge goes to War Eagles.
3. Money Train 1-0
Money Train has won this league twice already and with 79 points scored in the week 1 opener there seems to be plenty of track ahead for Money Train to make a deep run into the playoffs this year.
4. TCR 1-0
More than any other team, the players on TCR know their role and execute it. Many other teams have centers shooting threes and point guards with no assists, but TCR appears to have each player thriving in a defined role. If TCR maintains this structure, playoffs are certain.
5. Old School 1-0
Living up to their team name, Old School plays ball without glitz or glam. With a combined 11 steals it’s their defense that will continue to win them games, and they begin to hit from beyond the arch (combined 1-16 from 3point range) then this could spell for another championship year for Old School.
6. Cobras 1-0
Look for the Cobras to be in the playoffs come May as their rebounding and shared scoring approach will serve them well as at least a 5 win squad.
7. One Body A 1-0
Because of winning by forfeit we are yet to see what One Body A is made of, but Antioch has yet to enter a sorry team into the Men’s Basketball league so this is likely not the last time you’ll find One Body A in the Win column.
8. Inside Out 0-1
They cut down the nets last year so with a forfeit they are ranked as the highest of the winless. Returning champs or not, you gotta show up for your games. Look for Inside Out to make up their 0-1 start, but with a few players leaving from last season’s squad we still in the dark as to what they are made of.
9. LA Legends 0-1
Despite a poor opener, 53 may be the lowest score LA puts up all year as they are historically an annual playoff contender with the capability both cutting to the basket and pouring on the three ball better than any other team when hot.
10. Gators 0-1
The Gators have star power in Figueroa, but to reach the playoffs they will need to find a way to spread the wealth as no one else on the team scored double digits.
11. Metro Church 0-1
Tough break for Metro Church on Tuesday, after running into one of the best teams in the league they begin the season 0-1. Still, they managed to put 63 on the board so look for them to make waves moving forward.
12. Playground Legends 0-1
It’s too early in the season to tell how strong of a playoff push the Playground Legends will make with their offense, but without improvement on the defensive end of the ball recess will be over in April for the Legends.
13. Wiley Coyotes 0-1
The Wiley Coyotes are off to a rough start, but if they continue the strong ball movement and increase their shooting percentages, look for them to be a factor going forward in the season.
14. Christ Church of Orlando 0-1
A tough match up in week one against One Body B leaves us wondering what Christ Church of Orlando is made of. Hopefully there is promise in the coming weeks, as they could not have been opposing a tougher team in week one.
