1. Old School 8-0
Undefeated. Outside of David Tyre I don’t know if this undefeated season can be derailed.
2. Money Train 7-1
Pulled out a big win against Playground Legends to prove they are an elite squad.
3. LA Legends 6-2
If they keep shooting lights out they could become the Golden State of Oviedo’s Men’s Basketball League.
4. Playground Legends 5-3
If they are hot from beyond the arch, nothing will stop them, but if they are not the Legends will need to bang the boards to gain more possessions.
5. War Eagles 6-2
Excited for May 9 when the Playground Legends face off with the War Eagles. It will be interesting to see how Jerry Jones of the Playground Legends Faces off with Dave Grohl of the War Eagles. They have both been dominant big men and whoever plays bigger will likely determine the winner.
6. Inside Out 4-4
Inside Out’s win over One Body A Thursday night was convincing, but with the eight seed they are now pitted up against Old School, the number one team.
7. One Body A 5-3
First playoff game is against the LA Legends who always put up big points. One Body A must score more points to hang.
8. One Body B 4-4
They made it past the bubble, but with Money Train on deck this could be a tough road to a championship. Come to play One Body B!!!
One Body B 100
Christ Church of Orlando 39
Congratulations to One Body B for making the playoffs! Thursday night’s game was tough for CCO who did well offensively with key performances from Scott Nickerson (21 points and 18 rebounds) and Jeff Phillips (10 points and 9 rebounds), but were unable to capitalize defensively. With One Body B playing for entrance into the playoffs they were all business and had 3 players score over 20 points: Clifton Johnson, Thomas Drake, and Ron Mcdonald. Great season guys!!!
Money Train 68
Playground Legends 61
First off congratulations to both teams for making the playoffs and giving us a playoff preview. Going into this game I saw the Playground Legends as the favorite as they have been on fire in the second half of the season, but the shots just weren’t falling on Thursday night. Of course it wasn’t missed shots that won the game, Money Train came out to play and left nothing on the court. Lead by DJ William with 15 points and 10 rebounds, Money train was more judicious then any other team in recent memory having all nine of their player score, dish an assist AND grab a rebound. Look for both of these teams to make serious noise in the playoffs. I wouldn’t be surprised to see either team cutting down the nets May 16th.
Inside Out 63
One Body A 46
Congratulations to both teams for making the playoffs! This game was a MUST win for Inside Out and they did not disappoint. After winning the title in the fall league, Inside Out again showed grit and tenacity in a win or go home situation. With key performances from Jeremy Irvin and Gary Snail who combined for 27 points, they were more than capable of holding off Mike Davis’ 20 point + 7 rebound performance and the rest of One Body A who had already secured their playoff spot in week 7.
War Eagles 59
Wiley Coyotes 51
First off I have to say how great it was to see the Wiley Coyotes improve so much over the year, many teams would be discouraged by the rough start, but not the Coyotes who started coming in with plays, scouting teams beforehand, and eventually even winning and nearly dealing an upset to the highly ranked (and deservedly so) War Eagles! Secondly I would like to congratulate the War Eagles on a great season and for making he playoffs!
Thursday night’s game was as exciting and edgy as any other game this year, but when the dust settled the War Eagles and Ezekiel Seymour’s performance of 20 points and 12 rebounds came out ahead on the scoreboard. While the Coyotes did have great performances from both Jared Beads and Kenny Mosseri who combined for 26 points, the War Eagles drive for a better seed in the playoffs was too much to stave off. Great season from both teams and I hope to see you all in the fall league!
It’s unfortunate that the Gators did not play better in the beginning of the season because they have definitely proved themselves to be a quality team towards season end and had they earned the chance they would have undoubtedly made some noise in the playoffs. Despite Kyle Hughes and Bryan Dilger’s combined performance of 40 points and 30 rebounds, it was not enough to stave off the Gators and their onslaught of offense with 4 players scoring 15 or more points in Lamarck Mcgreen, Andrew Figueroa, LA Ayala, and Leonard Hadden. Great Season guys, I hope to see you all in the fall!
Old School 72
LA Legends 49
Congratulations to Old School for an undefeated season and the number 1 seed in the Spring 2013 Playoffs! Usually Old School spreads the ball judiciously so no one really stands out in the stat book despite stellar play, but Tuesday night’s game had two big performers in Phil Hodges and Wesley Powell who combined for 55 points. While Old School was able to hold the Legends at bay they were unable to stop Joey Nemeh (14 points) and Jeremy Sharpe (16 points despite being ejected from most of the first half) from scoring. Great season guys, and congratulations to you both for making the playoffs!
Metro Church 78
Metro Church went into Tuesday night’s game knowing that the playoffs were no longer a possibility, but still came out to play. Unfortunately for TCR, the Tuesday night loss to Metro Church put TCR on the bubble and out of the playoffs despite an excellent start to the season. They played hard and even had a few key performers come out to play including a toolbox performance from Dave Edwards who scored 26 points, had 6 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds. Despite the solid individual performances it was not enough to overpower Metro Church’s Daniel Feliciano’s 32-point performance and the huge all around performances of the rest of Metro Church. In addition to Feliciano’s performance, Andre Mcfarlene had 16 points and the Polk brothers combined for 24 points on 10 for 18 shooting.
Get past the yelling and I think you all will really enjoy the content of this brief message.
We don’t save, Jesus does.
Jeremy Sharpe threw down a nasty dunk but I missed it, instead I put together a few NOT top highlights.
1. Old School 7-0
Only undefeated team remaining.
2. LA Legends 6-1
LA Legends are rolling. Can’t wait for their week 8 matchup against Old School. Longer win streak means jump in the power ranks. Possible upset in week 8 verse number 1 Old School.
3. Money Train 6-1
They pull out another close one over One Body B this time to return to their winning ways.
4. Playground Legends 5-2
Playground Legends are hitting on all cylinders. A championship is well within their grasp.
5. War Eagles 5-2
Solid win over Inside Out. The War Eagles are not to be reckoned with.
6. One Body A 5-2
Tough week 7 matchup against Playground Legends, but 5-2 with one week to go means playoff bound.
7. TCR 4-3
Tough loss and with Old School on deck things could go downhill fast making week 8 @ Metro Church a must win.
8. One Body B 3-4
On the bubble for playoffs, Don’t be surprised to see One Body B leap frog Inside Out.
9. Inside Out 3-4
Inside Out has been struggling for the past few weeks. We’ll see how week 8 plays out.
10. Gators 1-6
Tough loss to the LA Legends.
11. Cobras 2-5
Cobras have a week 8 matchup with the Gators to fight for top 10 in power rankings.
12. Metro Church 1-6
Metro has had a tough run the past few weeks. Look for them to come out with a full head of steam for the last game of the season.
13. Wiley Coyotes 1-6
14. Christ Church of Orlando 0-7
Tough loss to the Coyotes, but week 8 is a new week with new possibilities.
